So by following more sustainable business practices, you make sure you aren&#8217;t alienating yourself to any group of customers.<\/p>\n<h2>Attract high quality candidates<\/h2>\n<p>Almost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/90306556\/most-millennials-would-take-a-pay-cut-to-work-at-a-sustainable-company\">40% of millennials have chosen a job because of company sustainability<\/a>. As millennials make up a huge proportion of the global workforce (some estimate that <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/content\/dam\/Deloitte\/global\/Documents\/About-Deloitte\/gx-dttl-2014-millennial-survey-report.pdf\">by 2025 millennials will make up 75% of the global workforce<\/a>) showing a commitment to the environment will open you up to a much wider pool of candidates.<\/p>\n<h2>Win more tenders<\/h2>\n<p>Whatever the industry you&#8217;re in, environmental impact is likely going to be one of the criteria that your organization is evaluated on when you are considered for tender. For example, in 2010 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2018\/sep\/07\/profits-v-planet-can-big-business-and-the-environment-get-along\">KitKat got in trouble<\/a> for using a supplier that used unsustainable practices to source palm oil, KitKat saw a massive drop in sales. This bad press can take years to shake off, even if the organization addresses the issue, and makes a change straight away.<\/p>\n<p>So yes, sustainable businesses do perform better in more ways than one.
